Day 2 ~ We Disobey God and He Punishes Us
This is in the Bible in Genesis chapter 3

Yesterday we learned about God making His amazing world and how He made the man and the woman to live as His special friends in His special place

God’s special people would live with God as their king by obeying His good rule. But God warned them that if they did not keep His rule and disobeyed God then they would die.

One day as the man and woman were enjoying the garden, Satan crept into the garden looking like a snake. Satan hated God: he wanted to be God and be in charge of the whole world. So Satan tempted God’s people to eat from the special tree. Satan made the man and the woman doubt God’s goodness and tempted them to disobey God’s word.

And the woman and the man thought the fruit of the special tree looked delicious. And so they took some and ate it. They chose to doubt God’s goodness, disobey God’s word.

God is the only God and King and the man and woman have chosen to disobey Him.
God was very angry and he punished the man and woman.

He said

“Life will now be very hard, it will be painful and you will both one day die just as I said you would. Now you must leave my special place. You do not want me to be your king, so you cannot be my special people”

And that’s the same for all of us. We don’t want God to be king, and we want to make up the rules ourselves so we can’t be God’s special people.

What will happen to God’s special place and who will be God’s special people?
Well, God still loves his people and God made a promise that same day. He said

“I will one day send someone who will crush Satan. This person will do something amazing that means men and women can be my special people and live in my special place”.

And tomorrow we’ll find out who that person is and God’s amazing love for us and his brilliant rescue plan.
